This is pretty much just a tribute to how bad things have become around here. When it all began, it was a standard 2 company merge. Us vs them as it were. But we learned to get along ....
But now its all different. The combined us-and-them became like a little fish in a big pond when we were both taken in by a larger company. And now, its just all gone to shit. I think its best said with this sound bite. That pretty much covers the current situation.
So you may be wondering - if all that is true, what does it have to do with Milton and Office Space ? Well, our small little original company, is kind of like Milton in this story. He starts out happy by the window where ignorance is bliss. He is able to see the "merry" squirrels having a good ol' time. Then he gets moved to a smaller cube, not as nice, he seems to have less rights, and definately less respect. Then, again, he is moved to an even smaller cube, with even less respect. And then finally, he's booted off to the basement ... without even any light. Talk about lack of respect.
So we sort of feel like we are working at Initech. The smaller cube is a parellel to doing the same job with less people instead of space. The lack or respect ... well that one sort of speaks for itself. And notice in the end how he gets tired of it all and then ultimately threatens to quit ? Well, here we are now, we've come full circle, and are back at the beginning ... AGAIN !
